ECHELON

Sometime in 1988, the ECHELON spy system was brought to bear on the citizens of the world. ECHELON is a network of satellites and other spy hardware and software that facilitates eavesdropping on communications taking place anywhere in the world and between any people.

I will provide links in case any reader wants to delve more deeply into the details of ECHELON but these details are not this writer’s interest. ECHELON can only be ‘old news’ at this time in our history and reminding readers of its existence is reason enough for mentioning it in the tiny voice this web log represents.

In light of the seeming arrogance with which the Bush administration regards The Constitution of The United States of America by ignoring American rights to privacy under the increasingly questionable guise of “war powers” one would have to question why any further surveillance tools than are in existence are necessary.

The technology of ECHELON could only have improved and morphed into a significantly more invasive method of reading the world’s mail and listening in on any conversations taking place anywhere at anytime.

It seems to this writer that the Bush administration’s intent is to obviate American Liberty and the right to dissent. Period.

It seems to this writer, and seemingly, to all those other writers, politicians, closet patriots, moderates of both left and right political leanings, that our country—America—is under attack from within and not from ‘terrorists’ wearing head scarves but from the people we ‘elected’ to fill positions of trust.

If ever there was a time in America to use the internet; to investigate whatever other means of long-standing have existed and been of use to protect our country from attack, and to question why these methods were not sufficient to the Bush Cabal (and, indeed, not sufficient to prevent the attack on The World Trade Center), then now is that time.

These tiny web logs; these voices of the people, are every bit as historical a fact as the broadsides, the pamphlets of other eras, calling all Americans to step forth and demand with one voice the freedoms that the writers of The Constitution granted to all of us: the separation of church and state—the right to privacy—the right to freedom and the American form of democracy.

Enough of our Constitutional rights have been nullified by men and women seeking personal wealth and power at the expense of the poor majority who dwell in this country and this world. All we have are our voices joining as one to prevent this cabal from grinding us into the dust of their constant pursuit for even more riches and power.
